North West Breeze brought our commercial crew to Albany High School in Linn County, Oregon to service the building's ventilation ductwork. A high school this size moves a massive volume of air every day — through classrooms, the gymnasium, cafeteria, locker rooms, and administrative offices. Over time, that constant circulation deposits fine particulate inside the duct walls: dust from hallway foot traffic, fibers from ceiling tiles, pollen drawn in from outside, and general organic debris. Our job was to pull all of it out and get the system breathing at full capacity again.

Inside the Ducts — Before & After

How We Tackled the Job
School projects require a different rhythm than most commercial work. The schedule has to fit around class periods, and noise-sensitive areas like testing rooms and the library need special consideration. Here's how we structured the visit:
- Pre-work walk-through with the district's maintenance director to identify priority zones and agree on a work sequence that avoided active classrooms during instruction
- Negative-pressure setup — our truck-mounted vacuum system was connected to the main plenums so all dislodged material moved toward the collection point, not into occupied spaces
- Branch-by-branch agitation using compressed-air whips and rotary brushes sized for the smaller rectangular runs typical in school construction
- Main trunk cleaning — the larger supply and return mains received a full pass with heavy-duty agitation tools
- Final walkthrough with school facilities staff to review before/after documentation and confirm every zone was addressed
What Changed
measurable drop in static pressure across the system told us the cleaning had a real engineering impact, not just a cosmetic one. Teachers and staff in the building reported less dust settling on desks and surfaces in the days following the service. The maintenance team noted that the air handlers were reaching setpoints faster, which translates to lower energy consumption during peak heating and cooling months.
