Volunteers of America Oregon — Men's Residential Center: Duct & Mini-Split Cleaning

The Project

NWBreeze completed commercial air duct cleaning and mini-split cleaning at Volunteers of America Oregon — Men's Residential Center in Northeast Portland. The building runs exposed trunk and branch ductwork at ceiling level, wall-mounted ductless heads in resident zones, and standard lined supply runs — all of which pick up dust from continuous occupancy and high air-change schedules.

What the System Looks Like On-Site

Two photos below show the same reality from different angles: large rectangular mains, sealed joints, and spiral branches tying into corridors and program rooms. That geometry is exactly where particulate tends to settle when returns pull air across open spaces day and night.

Mini-Split Heads

Wall-mounted heads were cleaned as part of the same visit — filters, accessible coil faces, housings, and condensate paths — so each zone moves air without odor or restricted airflow. Details: mini-split cleaning service overview.

Before & After — Inside the Supply

The pair below is the same run: heavy grey buildup on sheet metal before agitation and vacuum, then bare galvanized with normal light reflection after the work was finished.

Our Process On-Site

  1. Walk-through with facility staff to respect resident privacy, program schedules, and noise windows.
  2. Negative-pressure containment on opened sections so debris moves toward the vacuum, not into hallways or sleeping areas.
  3. Agitation of accessible supply and return runs with brushes and compressed-air tools matched to duct size.
  4. Mini-split detail cleaning on each head in scope — filters out, surfaces and drains addressed per manufacturer access.
  5. Photo documentation for the work order, including the before/after pair shown above.

Outcomes

  • Visible dust load removed from the photographed supply section.
  • Mini-split heads serviced for improved airflow and hygiene at the wall.
  • Work staged so residential operations could continue on a normal day.
